In collaboration with Daniel Bear Davis, recipient of the residency, and Studio 550, I offered one of a series of workshops on socially engaged performance-making. An approach grown from two decades of research into arts and community health, and almost a decade of making performance pieces with oncogrrrls. So happy to be sharing this work!

Caro Novella's is able to create movement scores (and teach others to create movement scores) that allow for exploration and revelation, moving beyond our literal stories and what we think we know. The atmosphere she creates of warmth, acceptance, and curiosity allows for sustained inquiry and the possibility of a breakthrough into something new, something at once more vulnerable and personal and more universal.
