Hemispheric Encuentro of Performance: Action at Ex-Teresa, Mexico City

During the Hemispheric Encuentro of Performance that took place in Mexico (June 11 to 16) Study #2 of Co.sense, we are already silkworms took form as a pop up event and video action in collaboration with the group of Direct Action and Performance Clinics. We became the ‘cocoon team/ equipo capullo’ and launched into a collaborative fluxus-style exploration with silkworm cocoons #poetics of relation #invisibilities #environmental transformations #bordercrossings and #weaving and unweaving as resilient practices to ‘stay with the trouble’

Within the gated front patio of the current Art Museum Ex-Teresa (an old convento for Teresa de Jesus) - we explored some possibilities of connection by aiming to collectively thread silk from silk cocoons.. Once we crossed the gate, we engaged with the people and routines in front of the Museum, turning the exploration into an unscripted improvised performance art intervention entangling barrenderas, manteros, passers-by, and museum personnel through the practice of weaving silk.
